One of the best times to visit Mount Harmon, experience our plantation hospitality and see history come to life, is at our annual special events. Mount Harmon special events celebrate our colonial and Eastern Shore heritage, and are not to be missed.

Join us for Mount Harmon's special events and help to support one of Maryland's most beautiful historic sites. These events serve as important fund raisers that provide vital funding for Mount Harmon's operations, maintenance, and visitor programs.

Colonial Plantation Picnic, Sunday, June 6, 12 noon to 4 p.m.

Colonial Plantation PicnicOne of the best times to visit Mount Harmon and experience its colonial heritage is at the annual Colonial Plantation Picnic. This year’s picnic features:

  • a gourmet Eastern Shore picnic buffet with mini crab cakes, country ham, fried chicken, and summer salads.
  • Silent Auction full of great gift, antique and specialty items donated from area businesses to raise funds for Mount Harmon.
  • Plantation Wagon Rides--a great way to get out and see Mount Harmon’s scenic beauty.
  • Colonial Demonstrations which will bring Mount Harmon’s colonial history to life – and offer fun for the whole family.

Tickets for adults are $35 and $10 for children. The ticket price includes admission to the museum, a gourmet Eastern Shore buffet, and colonial demonstrations.

Lotus Blossom Festival, Saturday, July 31st, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lotus Blossom FestivalNew this year ~ the Mount Harmon Lotus Blossom Festival will showcase the plantation's rare American Lotus in peak bloom, as well as special nature-inspired activities and exhibitors. The American Lotus (Nelumbo lutea), a relative of the water lily and the largest wildflower in the United States, is rare in Maryland and neighboring states but abundant at Mount Harmon.

The following exhibitors will be on hand for the public to enjoy: local bird club, authors, yoga instructor, artists and artisans, & much more. Don't miss this opportunity to meet others from your community, and to learn about all of the educational and family opportunities Mount Harmon Plantation has to offer. Friendly volunteers welcome.

Revolutionary War Reenactment Festival, Saturday & Sunday October 23-24

New This Year: Mark your calendars for October 23 & 24 ~ “The British are coming to Cecil County…..Again.” Mount Harmon is hosting a full-scale Revolutionary War Re-enactment and Colonial Festival featuring over 200 re-enactors and an array of colonial craft vendors and activities for our members and the public to enjoy.

Revolutionary War ReenactmentEach day will feature an exciting array of military skirmishes, tactical demonstrations and drills, colonial crafts, and much more. Colonial vendors, food, music, nature trails, manor house tours and of course a full fledged Revolutionary War encampment of both British and “Rebels” (the good guys, continental and militia groups) will be at hand. Don’t miss your chance to see history come to life!

Bull & Oyster Roast, Saturday, October 23, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This year the annual Mount Harmon Plantation Bull and Oyster Roast will be held in conjunction with our Reenactment Festival, giving history and oyster lovers even more to celebrate. Guests can meet the Generals, survey the troops, and enjoy Manor House Tours during the Social Hour.

Few colonial era plantations are open to the public or have settings that rival Mount Harmon’s spectacular waterfront location and natural beauty. The Bull & Oyster Roast is a great time to visit Mount Harmon and see the plantation’s history come to life and enjoy one of the Eastern Shore’s finest delicacies – freshly shucked oysters!

Tickets are $50 per person and include oysters on the half shell and roasted oysters, a barbeque buffet, desert, beer and wine, a silent auction, and live music.


Yuletide Manor House Tour, Saturday and Sunday, December 4 & 5, 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Yuletide TourGet into the holiday spirit with Mount Harmon’s Yuletide Manor House Tour. The elegant brick Georgian Manor House at Mount Harmon will be decorated for the holidays with festive wreaths and decorative arrangements, in the style of Colonial Williamsburg. The Greenfingers Garden Club will be making the holiday decorations using greens from Mount Harmon’s grounds, including boxwood, magnolia, pine, holly, and other seasonal favorites. A holiday greens sale will also be featured, with hand-made Williamsburg-style decorations and select greens available for sale.

Mount Harmon’s Colonial history will come to life with hearth cooking demonstrations in the Colonial kitchen, given by costumed interpreters. Visitors will delight in sampling freshly made ginger bread cooked on the hearth and Mount Harmon’s special Wassail Punch. Proceeds benefit Mount Harmon Plantation.
